Abstract

Abstract TELEPHONE SWITCHING SYSTEM SWITCH PROCESSOR INTERFACE Abstract The interface circuit of this invention eliminates the separation between hard-wired telephone switching system computer facilities and the customer owned switchably connectable computer facilities. A general purpose communication interface is provided which connects the customer provided computer facilities to both the switching network and the hard-wired computer facilities of the telephone switching system via the standard telephone switching system port circuit. This general purpose communication interface enables the customer provided computer facilities to communicate directly with the telephone switching system processor, thereby providing the customer with direct access to the call processing data and subroutines of the telephone switching system.

Total Claims: 7
Claim 1
Independent Claim 165 words
In a switching system which serves both a plurality of terminal equipment, each of which is connected by an associated port circuit to a switching network of said switching system, and a computer facility connected by an associated port circuit to said switching network, said switching network being effective to establish network connections among said terminal equipment and said computer facility by interconnecting said associated port circuits, a system processor interface arrangement comprising: system processor means for controlling the operation of said switching system; control signalling channel means independent of said switching network connected to and interconnecting said system processor means and all of said port circuits for exchanging control messages therebetween; and communication interface means interposed between said computer facility and the one of said port circuits associated with said computer facility for providing a one-to-one mapping of messages between said computer facility and said system processor means independent of call establishment signalling via said control signalling channel means of said one port circuit.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 165 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 182 words
In a switching system which serves both a plurality of terminal equipment, each of which is connected by an associated port circuit to a switching network of said switching system, and a computer facility connected by an associated port circuit to said switching network, said switching network being effective to establish network connections among said terminal equipment and said computer facility by interconnecting said associated port circuits, a system processing interface arrangement comprising: system processor means for controlling the operation of said switching system; control signalling channel means independent of said switching network connected to and interconnecting said system processor means and all of said port circuits for exchanging control messages therebetween; and communication interface means interposed between said computer facility and the one of said port circuits associated with said computer facility for concurrently providing said computer facility with direct data communication access on a one-to-one message mapping basis independent of call establishment signalling both to said system processor means via said control signalling channel means of said one port circuit and to said switching network via said one port circuit.
Claim 4
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 65 words
The system of claim 1 wherein said communication interface means includes: means responsive to messages output by said computer facility for mapping said messages on a one-to-one basis to control messages; and means connected to both said generating means and said control signalling channel means for transmitting said control messages to said system processor via said control signalling channel means of said one port circuit.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 41 words
The system of claim 3 wherein said transmitting means includes: switch protocol conversion means for translating the signalling protocol of said messages output by said computer facility to the protocol required by said control signalling channel means in said control messages.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 59 words
The system of claim 3 wherein said generating means includes: memory means for storing a set of predefined control messages for transmission to said system processor; and processor means responsive to said messages output by said computer facility for selecting one of said pre-defined control messages to reflect the information content of said messages output by said computer facility.
