Kalibrieren von Messfühlern kutaner Blutsauerstoff- und -kohlendioxyd-Messgeräte, wobei die Messfühler (3) in einem vom Messgerät getrennten Eichgerät (1) betrieben und geeicht werden und die Eichdaten, sowie ggf. weitere Kenndaten, in einem mit dem Messfühler (3) verbundenen Speicher (11) gespeichert und bei Inbetriebnahme des Messfühlers zum Zweck der Messung in das Messgerät übertragen und bei der Messung mitberücksichtigt werden. Das Eichgerät (1) enthält eine Eichgasmischeinrichtung, eine Ablaufsteuerung (18), Messplätze (2) an denen die Messfühler (3) dem Eichgas ausgesetzt werden, und eine Datenverarbeitungseinrichtung zur Einspeicherung und Uebertragung der Eichdaten und ggf. anderer Kenndaten in die Speicher (11) der Messfühler (3).
