Abstract

A method is described for the production of a recombinant deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) which contains the genetic code for an antigenic protein from herpes viruses. This combined DNA is obtained by binding a corresponding genome section of the virus to a so-called vector and introduced into a cell, which then produces the antigenic protein. The protein is recovered and used to make an antiserum, vaccine, or diagnostic agent.
