Claim 1
Independent Claim
131 words
A method of determining the concentration of a selected drug in the body of a subject comprising the steps of obtaining a body fluid sample (7), bringing the fluid into contact with reagent means (3) for reacting with said selected drug so as to produce, after a predetermined time interval, a physically detectable change dependent, at least semi- quantitatively, upon the concentration of said drug; and determining the physical change in said reagent after a predetermined interval of time, characterized by the steps of holding a liquid collecting means comprising an absorbent substantially inert member (1) in a position in close proximity to an eye (4) of the patient for collecting tear fluid (7) therefrom; and allowing the tear fluid (7) collected to come into contact with said reagent menas (3).
Claim 2
Independent Claim

Claim 3
Dependent Claim
31 words
A method as claimed in claim 1 characterized by inserting one end (49) of the inert member (44) between the eyeballs (51)and eyelid (50) of the subject and holding it therebetween.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
53 words
A method as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2 wherein the liquid collecting means absorbent member (2) is connected to an absorbent member containing said reagent means (3) characterized by allowing the tear fluid (7) collected in the former to diffuse into the latter for reaction with said reagent means (3) therein.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
33 words
A method as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2 characterized by bringing the tear fluid (39) collected by said absorbent member into admixture with the reagent means (34-36) in a vessel (22).
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
90 words
A method as claimed in claim 4 wherein is used a multicompartment vessel (22) containing at least two different, first and second, reagent means (34, 35, 36) in respective compartments (29-31) separated by breachable wall means ,(32-33) and the tear fluid (39) is brought into contact with the first reagent means (34) the wall means (32) separating the second reagent (35) from the mixture of tear fluid (39) and first reagent means (34) is breached allowing the second reagent means (35) to be brought into admixture with said mixture (34,39).
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
115 words
A test strip suitable for use in the method of claim 1, and having an absorbent reactive portion (3), characterized by said strip having adjoining absorbent reactive (3) and substantially inert portions (2), said reactive portion (3) containing reagent means (3) for reacting with said selected drug so as to produce, after a predetermined time interval, a physically detectable change in said reactive portion dependent at least semi-quantitatively, upon the concentration of said drug in a body fluid (7), said absorbent reactive and inert portions 3,2) being capable of absorbing a body fluid (7) in the inert portion (2) and allowing diffusion thereof across the inert portion (2) into and across the reactive portion (3).
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
50 words
A tear-fluid collection device comprising an elongate absorbent substantially inert member (44) having one end portion(49) formed and arranged into a generally hook-shaped structure which can be hooked over an eyelid (51) of a subject with a free end portion inserted between said eyelid (51) and the associated eyeball (50).
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
50 words
A tear-fluid collection device comprising an elongate absorbent substantially inert member (44) having one end portion(49) formed and arranged into a generally hook-shaped structure which can be hooked over an eyelid (51) of a subject with a free end portion inserted between said eyelid (51) and the associated eyeball (50).
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
38 words
A device as claimed in claim 7 which includes remote from said free end (49) of said hook structure a tear-fluid collection vessel (41) formed and arranged for receiving tear fluid (7) diffusing through said inert member (44).
Claim 11
Dependent Claim
46 words
A device as claimed in claim 8 which includes a generally tubular connector (42) in which said inert member (44) is secured remote from said free end (49) of the hook structure, said connector (42) being detachably secured in an opening (4) in said vessel (41).
