Abstract

Abstract © An apparatus for recording and/or reproducing a digital signal on a recording medium (14) having at least a programme start signal and programme information recorded thereon, further records an identifying code signal indicating the start of unnecessary information on the recording medium (14) during a predetermined time period, and, in a playback mode, when such identifying code signal is detected, the recording medium (14) is transported at high speed and, when a programme start signal is next detected, the recording medium (14) is again transported at a normal speed.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 4
Claim 1
Independent Claim 97 words
An apparatus for recording and/or reproducing a programme information signal, the apparatus comprising: a recording medium (14) on which at least a programme information signal and a programme start signal indicative of the start of said programme information signal are recorded; transport means (32 to 37) for controlling the transport of said recording medium (14); and means (11A,11B) for reproducing said programme information signal recorded on said recording medium (14); characterised by: means (5,26,27,28) for recording a skip identifying code signal indicative only of a start portion of an unnecessary programme information on said recording medium (14).
Claim 2
Independent Claim 97 words
An apparatus for recording and/or reproducing a programme information signal, the apparatus comprising: a recording medium (14) on which at least a programme information signal and a programme start signal indicative of the start of said programme information signal are recorded; transport means (32 to 37) for controlling the transport of said recording medium (14); and means (11A,11B) for reproducing said programme information signal recorded on said recording medium (14); characterised by: means (5,26,27,28) for recording a skip identifying code signal indicative only of a start portion of an unnecessary programme information on said recording medium (14).
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 39 words
Apparatus according to claim 1 wherein said programme start signal and said skip identifying code signal are recorded on said recording medium (14) at a region spaced apart from a region in which said programme information signal is recorded.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 116 words
Apparatus according to claim 1 further comprising: first detecting means (16,18) for detecting said skip identifying code signal when a programme information signal is being reproduced from said recording medium (14); second detecting means (16) for detecting said programme start signal; and control means (26) for controlling said transport means (32 to 37) to change from a normal transport mode to a high speed transport mode in response to detection of said skip identifying code signal by said first detecting means (26,28), said transport means (32 to 37) being returned from said high speed transport mode to the normal transport mode in response to detection of said programme start signal by said second detecting means (26).
