Abstract
Abstract An electric heater includes a fan (52) which blows air through apertures (43) in a plurality of semi-conductor heating disks (28, 30, 32, 34) which are held in coplanar, spaced-apart relationship in pockets formed between ceramic holder members (72, 74) whch are fastened together. Electrical connectors (108, 110) make electrical contact with conductive coatings (48, 50) on the semi-conductor disks (28, 30, 32, 34).

Claim 1
Independent Claim
141 words
An electric heater comprisinr a semi-conductor heater with apertures (43) for air flow, which is mounted in front of a fan (52) which provides air flow through those apertures (43), characterised by a number of semi-conductor heating elements (28, 30, 32, 34) which are held in generally coplanar, spaced-apart relationship in a holder (72, 74) formed of an electrically insulating and heat-insulating material, which holder (72, 74) has a number of passages (96, 98) each associated with a different one of the heating elements (28, 30, 32, 34), which passages (96, 98) are shaped to constrain the air flow from the fan (52) to flow through the apertures (43) in the heating elements, and electrical connectors (108, 110) extending into the holder (72, 74) for connecting electrically conductive coatings (48, 50) on the heating elements to a source of electric power.

Claim 3
Dependent Claim
56 words
A heater as claimed in Claim 1, wherein each of the heating elements (28, 30, 32, 34) is a disk-shaped element including a core of semi-conductor material having a positive resistance - temperature coefficient, with electrically conductive coatings (48, 50) over its opposing faces (42, 44), and a multiplicity of air-flow apertures (43) in the core.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim

A heater as claimed in Claim 2, wherein the holder (72, 74) orients each of the heating element cores (28, 30, 32, 24) generally perpendicular to the air flow from the fan (52).
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
56 words
A heater as claimed in any one of Claims 1 to 3, wherein the face (80) of the holder (72, 74) which faces the fan (52) is formed with a recess (104) which receives all the air flow from the fan, and the passages (96, 98) through the holder all open into the recessed face (104).
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
27 words
A heater as claimed in Claim 4, wherein each of the passages (96, 98) flares radially outwardly and rearwardly from its heating element to the recess (104).
Claim 7
