Process for the preparation of silicon and compounds thereof in a very finely divided form
Abstract
In the process for the production of silicon of certain particle shape by reacting silicon with gaseous silicon tetrachloride at high temperatures to form silicon dichloride and its disproportionation at low temperatures to silicon of certain particle shape and silicon tetrachloride, the use of very fine-particle silicon with a grain size <1 µm and a BET surface area> 10 m² / g powdery or lumpy silicon at temperatures above 1100 ° C with silicon tetrachloride in excess and the spherical reaction mixture as quickly as possible up to 900 ° C and from there without stopping point while maintaining a residence time of 5 to 100 s to 600 ° C , whereby the resulting silicon dichloride disproportionates to the desired finely divided silicon and silicon tetrachloride. The silicon obtained in this way can further be used for the production of silicon compounds in finely divided form.
