Abstract
Abstract There is disclosed a facsimile apparatus which transmits a predetermined signal, such as CNG signal, during pause periods succeeding the transmission of telephone number signals. This operation prevents the delay of CNG signal detection in case the receiving side has an automatic telephone/facsimile switching function, and also prevents the facsimile communication being erroneously cut off in case the pause period of the calling side eventually overlaps with the CNG detection period of the receiving side.

Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 12
Claim 1
Independent Claim
50 words
A data communication apparatus comprising: generator means for generating numerical data and pause data; and transmission means for transmitting dial signals when numerical data are generated by said generator means; wherein said transmission means is adapted to transmit a predetermined signal when pause data are generated by said generator means.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
34 words
An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said transmission means is adapted to transmit a predetermined signal in a part of a predetermined pause period, when pause data are generated by said generator means.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
46 words
An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said transmission means is adapted to repeatedly transmit a predetermined signal by a number of times corresponding to the number of pause data, with a predetermined interval, when plural pause data are generated in succession by said generator means.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
79 words
An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said trasmission means is adapted when pause data are generated in the middle of a train of numerical data, to form a predetermined pause period between the transmission of dial signals based on the numerical data preceding said pause data and the transmission of dial signals based on the numerical data succeeding said pause data, and, when pause data are generated after said train of numerical data, to transmit a predetermined signal.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
22 words
An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said predetermined signal transmitted by said transmission means is a tone signal of 1100 Hz.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
26 words
An apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising discrimination means for discriminating the response from the called side, in a period determined by said pause data.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
60 words
A data communication apparatus comprising: setting means for manually setting numerical data and control data; and transmission means for transmitting dial signals based on the numerical data set by said setting means; wherein said transmission means is adapted to repeatedly transmit a predetermined protocol signal by a number of times corresponding to the control data set by said setting means.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
80 words
An apparatus according to claim 7, wherein said transmission means is adapted, when control data are set in the middle of a train of numerical data, to set a predetermined pause period between the transmission of dial signals based on the numerical data preceding the control data and the transmission of dial signals based on the numerical data succeeding the control data, and, when control data are set after the train of numerical data, to transmit said predetermined protocol signal.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
23 words
An apparatus according to claim 7, wherein said predetermined protocol signal transmitted by said transmission means is a tone signal of 1100 Hz.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
36 words
An apparatus according to claim 7, wherein said transmission means is adapted to repeatedly transmit a predetermined protocol signal by a number of times corresponding to the number of control data set by said setting means.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim
67 words
In a facsimile system, a method of adding a pause to the transmission of dialing data, wherein dialing data is terminated by a data signal indicating that facsimile data is to be transmitted, characterised in that pauses at the end of the dialing data are detected and the data signal indicating that facsimile data is to be transmitted is itself transmitted during the period of said pauses.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim
21 words
A method according to claim 11, characterised in that said data signal is transmitted substantially towards the end of said pauses.
