Abstract
Abstract An image processing apparatus for processing a half tone image comprises: an input device to input an image signal; an image forming circuit to form an image onto a recording medium (14) on the basis of the image signal supplied by the input device; a generator (21) to generate a plurality of image data having different densities; a density detector (23) to detect a density of the image formed on the recording medium by the image forming circuit on the basis of the image data generated from the generator; and a forming circuit to form a plurality of density conversion coefficients to convert the density of the image signal supplied by the input device on the basis of the densities of the plurality of images which are detected by the density detector.

An image processing apparatus comprising: input means for inputting an image signal; image forming means for forming an image onto a recording medium on the basis of the image signal supplied from the input means; generating means for generating a plurality of image data having different densities; density detecting means for detecting a density of the image which is formed on the recording medium by the image forming means on the basis of the image data which is generated from the generating means; and forming means for forming a plurality of conversion coefficinets to convert a density of the image signal supplied from the input means on the basis of the densities of a plurality of images which are detected by the density detecting means.

An image processing method in an image forming apparatus having input means for inputting an image signal and image forming means for forming an image onto a recording medium on the basis of the image signal supplied by said input means, comprising the steps of: a) forming an image onto the recording medium by the image forming beans on the basis of a plurality of image density having different predetermined densities; b) detecting densities of a plurality of image data formed in said step (a), respectively; and c) forming conversion coefficients for converting a density of the image signal supplied from the input means for each of a plurality of density levels, on the basis of the densities detected in said step (b).
