Abstract

Abstract A signal switching output device includes an attenuator (1) which attenuates the brightness of an input image signal, and a first switching means (9) which alternatively outputs an output from the attenuator or the input image signal. A delay circuit (8) delays a character signal by a specified time, and a second switch (3) alternatively provides an output from the first switch and a character signal delayed by the specified time. A switch instructing means (30) switches between the first switch and the second switch according to the character signal, and outputs an RGB signal showing a character while delaying it and lowers a brightness level of input image signals composing a background image during a specified period before and after the output of the RGB signal, so that a character displayed on a display unit is trimmed by a dark lines and is very easy to recognize.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 7
Claim 1
Independent Claim 109 words
A signal switching output device comprising an attenuating means (1) for attenuating a brightness level of an input image signal (Vin); a first switching means (9) for alternatively providing an output from the attenuating means or an output from the input image signal; and characterized by a delaying means (8) for delaying a character signal by a specified time; a second switching means (3) for alternatively providing an output from the first switching means and an output of the character signal delayed by the specified time; and, a switch instructing means (30) for switching between the first switching means and the second switching means according to the character signal.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 32 words
A signal switching output device according to claim 1, further comprising an RGB composition unit (2) from which a composite image signal is output by composing RGB signals which are character information.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 42 words
A signal switching output device according to claim 1, wherein the switch instructing means (30) consists of a switch signal generator (4), a delay means (5,6,7) connected to the switch signal generator, and an OR element (10) connected to the delay means.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 36 words
A signal switching output device according to claim 3, wherein the switch instructing means (30) outputs an input image signal for a background when any switch signal is not generated by the switch signal generator (4).
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 52 words
A signal switching output device according to claim 3, wherein the switch instructing means (30) switches between the first switching means (9) and the second switching means (3) so that an input image signal with an attenuated brightness level is output before and after a character signal delayed by a specified time.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 25 words
A signal switching output device according to claim 3, wherein the switch signal generator (4) generates a switch timing signal according to an RGB signal.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 33 words
A signal switching output device according to claim 1, wherein the width of both edges of a character can be changed by arbitrarily selecting a switch timing for the first switching means (9).
