Abstract

Abstract A color video printer, for printing color video signals, includes a data conversion means (60) that has an internal memory that receives digitised input chrominance signals and stores pixel data at addresses corresponding to the raster scan of an interlaced video field. The data can be read out in sequential rows by a monitor address means (78) to provide a signal for display on a monitor. Also, the data is be read out in columns to be fed to a memory (68) for printing column by column. Each column is read out by a printing address generating means (76) during the vertical blanking pulse between fields of the scan. R.G.B. data is read out column by column sequentially during successive blanking pulses.

Claim 1
Independent Claim 110 words
A video printer comprising: means (60) responsive to data representative of successive lines of a video raster scan to derive therefrom data representative of successive columns of data extending transversely across lines of the scan, and printing means (70, 72) for printing the columns of data successively, characterised by data conversion means (60) including memory means (82) for storing data representative of at least one field of the raster scan, and means (76, 80) for reading the columns of data from the memory means (82), the columns of data being output to the printing means during respective successive periods associated with the occurrence of successive field periods of the scan.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 110 words
A video printer comprising: means (60) responsive to data representative of successive lines of a video raster scan to derive therefrom data representative of successive columns of data extending transversely across lines of the scan, and printing means (70, 72) for printing the columns of data successively, characterised by data conversion means (60) including memory means (82) for storing data representative of at least one field of the raster scan, and means (76, 80) for reading the columns of data from the memory means (82), the columns of data being output to the printing means during respective successive periods associated with the occurrence of successive field periods of the scan.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 40 words
A video printer according to claim 1 wherein successive fields of the raster scan have associated therewith respective blanking periods, and the columns of data are read from the memory means (82) during respective successive ones of the blanking periods.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 50 words
A video printer according to claim 1 or 2 including video output means (62, 64) to receive said raster scan read from said memory means, and monitoring address generating means (78) for addressing the memory means (82) to produce said scan raster scan for the video output means (62, 64).
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 46 words
A video printer according to any preceding claim wherein said raster scan data is representative of a color video display, and said memory means (82) includes a plurality of memory units (82a, b, c) to store respective different color representing signals for the raster scan field.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 21 words
A video printer according to claim 4 wherein the printing means is operative to print said different color representing signals successively.
Claim 7
