Abstract

Abstract An apparatus for recording a signal on a disc medium (1) driven by a servo circuit (3) comprises a device (2, 13) for generating a laser beam for recording the signal on the disc medium (1), a circuit (4) for detecting a track jump of a scan of the disc medium (1) by the laser beam, a memory (14B) for storing the signal during the occurrence of a track jump, and a controller (16) for controlling the laser beam generating device (2, 13), the track jump detecting circuit (4) and the first memory (14B), so that a recording operation by the laser beam is stopped during the occurrence of a track jump, and the signal stored in the first memory (14B) is recorded on a predetermined area of the disc medium (1) when the record operation becomes possible again.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 7
Claim 1
Independent Claim 138 words
An apparatus for recording a signal on a disc medium (1) driven by a servo circuit (3), the apparatus comprising: means (2, 13) for generating a laser beam for recording said signal on said disc medium (1); means (4) for detecting a track jump in a scan of said disc medium (1) by said laser beam; a first memory (14B) for storing said signal during an occurrence of said track jump; and means (16) for controlling said laser beam generating means (2, 13), said track jump detecting means (4) and said first memory (14B) so that a recording operation by said laser beam is stopped during said occurrence of said track jump, and said signal stored in said first memory (14B) is recorded on a predetermined area of said disc medium (1) after the record operation becomes possible.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 56 words
Apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said detecting means (4) includes a sensing device for sensing a shock, and a track jump detect circuit for detecting track jump in response to an output signal from said shock sensing device and an output signal from said servo circuit (3) for controlling rotation of said disc medium (1).
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 26 words
Apparatus according to claim 2, wherein said control means (16) stores address data reproduced from said disc medium (1) during said occurrence of said track jump.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 34 words
Apparatus according to claim 3, wherein said signal stored in said first memory (14B) is re-recorded on a portion of said disc (1) indicated by said address data stored in said control means (16).
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 40 words
Apparatus according to any one of the preceding claims further comprising a second memory (14A) for storing a reproduced signal from said disc medium, (1) and an error detecting circuit (9) for detecting an error condition of said reproduced signal.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 22 words
Apparatus according to claim 5, wherein said control means (16) stores second address data when said error condition exceeds a predetermined value.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 52 words
Apparatus according to claim 6 wherein said control means (16) controls said second memory (14B), said laser beam generating means (2, 13) and said servo circuit (3) so that said reproduced signal stored in said second memory (14A) is read out and re-recorded on a designated area of said disc medium (1).
