Abstract

Abstract A portable radiotelephone transmits voice information signals to a telephone base station by radio and receives voice information signals transmitted by radio from the base station to output the received signals as voice signals. The radiotelephone includes a telephone main body having a key pad section mounted on its outer surface and containing a microphone unit, a speaker housing containing a speaker unit and slidably mounted on the telephone main body at a variable distance between the microphone unit and the speaker unit, and a switching unit between the telephone main body and the speaker housing for establishing electrical connection and disconnection depending on a sliding movement of the speaker housing relative to telephone main body. The radiotelephone is extended and contracted in size as a result of sliding movement of the speaker housing relative to the telephone main body. Electrical connection and disconnection between the speaker unit and the telephone main body may also be achieved simultaneously.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 5
Claim 1
Independent Claim 94 words
A portable radiotelephone comprising a telephone main body having a key pad section mounted on the outer surface thereof and having a microphone unit contained therein, a speaker housing having a speaker unit contained therein, said speaker housing being slidably mounted on said telephone main body to provide for a variable distance between said microphone unit and said speaker unit, and switching means provided between said telephone main body and said speaker housing for assuring electrical connection and disconnection depending on a sliding movement of said speaker housing relative to said telephone main body.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 63 words
The portable radiotelephone as claimed in claim 1 wherein electrical contact of said switching means is established when said speaker housing is slid relative to the telephone main body to increase the distance between said microphone unit in said telephone main body and the speaker unit in said speaker housing for establishing electrical contact of said speaker unit to said telephone main body.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 24 words
The portable radiotelephone as claimed in claim 2 wherein said switching means is provided on said speaker housing and on said telephone main body.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 29 words
The portable radiotelephone as claimed in claim 1 wherein changeover means for changing over a control switch provided in said telephone main body is provided on said speaker housing.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 98 words
A portable radiotelephone comprising a telephone main body having a key pad section mounted on the outer surface thereof and having a microphone unit contained therein, a speaker housing having a speaker unit contained therein, said speaker housing being slidably mounted on said telephone main body to provide for a variable distance between said microphone unit and said speaker unit, and a controlling section for lowering said speaker housing from a call state at the raised position of said speaker housing to change over a control switch to its standby state while simultaneously disabling said key pad section.
