Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 12
Claim 1
Independent Claim
54 words
A computer-assisted educational system, characterized by a
computer which stores a plurality of educational programs which
present one or more topics to a student, each program being
arranged to assess the student's grasp of a topic presented by the
program, and communicator means which enables the student to
select a program and run it.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
71 words
A computer assisted educational system which presents
material to students, characterized by administrator means adapted
to enable assessment of whether students understand the material
presented, and means for creating profiles, which describe
learning characteristics of students, based on factors which
include one or more of the following: standardized test results,
results of personal interviews, and evaluation of student's
performance of assigned tasks; and means for storing said profiles
within the system.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
66 words
A computer-assisted educational system, characterized by
computer means for storing multiple curricula, in which each
curriculum includes multiple subjects, and each subject includes
multiple topics, some topics including different teaching
strategies, profiles which describe learning characteristics of
students, a progress record for each student, which indicates the
student's mastery of each topic, and communication means for
presenting material to the student and receiving input from the
student.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
28 words
A system according to claim 3, characterized by means for
updating the progress record for each student, based on the
performance of said student in each educational session.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
24 words
A system according to claim 1, characterized in that at least
one of said educational programs employ different teaching
strategies for a given topic.
Claim 6
Independent Claim
33 words
A system according to any one of the preceding claims,
characterized in that said computer has stored therein a profile
for each student, which contains information about the learning
characteristics of that student.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
27 words
A system according to claim 6, characterized in that each
profile of a student contains information indicating whether a
student has a linear or holistic learning style.
Claim 8
Independent Claim
60 words
A system for instructing students, characterized by:
repository means for storing a collection of downloadable lessons,
and a plurality of communicators, each able to establish a
communication link between a remotely located computer and said
repository means; order that a lesson be executed; accept input
for the lesson from a student; and deliver output from the lesson
to the student.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
20 words
A system according to claim 8, characterized in that at least
some of the communication links are cellular in nature.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
25 words
A system according to claim 8 or claim 9, characterised in
that some of said lessons each include a different presentation of
a single topic.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim
52 words
A system according to claim 8,9 or 10, characterized by
means, which presents a first topic, according to a first
strategy, to a student; assesses whether the student has grasped
the first topic, and, if so, presents a new topic; and if not,
presents the first topic according to a second strategy.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim
30 words
A system according to claim 11, characterized in that said
administrator means patches the student to a remote, real-time
consultant after a predetermined number of presentations of the
first topic.
