Abstract
Abstract A septal defect closure device (10) comprising first and second occluding disks (20,30). Each disk (20,30) comprises a flexible, biologically compatible membrane being capable of being collapsed for passage through a catheter and elastically returning to a predetermined shape for tautly holding at least a portion of the membrane against a septum. A central portion of the membrane of the first disk (20) is attached to a central portion of the membrane of the second disk (30). The two disks are not separated from one another during deployment of the device.
