Abstract
Abstract A closure for a bottle or metal container has a stopper (4) joined to a collar on the top of the container before opening by means of a number of strips (3). The strips are disposed at an angle around the periphery of the stopper and are of unequal length such that the inner side of the ring (2) is not concentric with the stopper. The result is that when the stopper is first opened the shortest strip will tear first and the longest strip will tear last. The strips may therefore be sturdier than when all the strips are expected to tear together.
