Vacuum fuel feed apparatus for internal combustion engines
Abstract
Abstract 141,018. Zorzi, C. April 1, 1919, [Convention date]. Vacuum apparatus.-In a fuel-feed apparatus of the kind comprising two vessels both open to the atmosphere and arranged one at a higher level than the other, the receptacle 1 is arranged partly within and partly above, the other vessel 2, and the air inlet to the outer vessel 2 is arranged at the junction of the two vessels. The upper vessel 1 is connected to suction by a pipe 5, and has a float-actuated valve 8 for cutting off the suction when the vessel is full. The fuel then passes into the vessel 2 and thence to the carburetter. The liquid inlet pipe may have a non- return valve 4, and the vessel 2 may have a strainer 17. The vessel 1 may be connected to atmosphere by a pipe entering from the vessel 2.
