Color image processing device

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To process a halftone area into high gradation, outputting a black level character and line drawing with high resolution with more black level and to reduce color blur by detecting an achromatic edge part, emphasizing it, decreasing the chromatic color near the achromatic edge and suppressing the reduced chromatic signal further. CONSTITUTION:An achromatic edge detection means 536 detecting an achromatic edge, a means 548 emphasizing the achromatic edge and reducing the chromatic color near the achromatic edge based on the output signal of the achromatic edge detection means 536 and a suppression means 547 suppressing further the reduced chromatic signal are provided. Then the achromatic edge is detected and the achromatic edge is emphasized and the chromatic color near the achromatic edge is reduced and the reduced chromatic signal is further suppressed. Thus, the halftone area is processed with high resolution and the black level character and line drawing are outputted with more black level and high resolution and color blur is reduced.
