Cooling device of mechanical seal

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To increase reliability by providing a coolant feed pump in a mechanical seal cooling circulating system for feeding the coolant to a mechanical seal installation part, in a subjected device used in boiler feed water pumps for a power plant. CONSTITUTION:A mechanical seal cooling circulating system 6 for feeding a coolant to a mechanical seal installing part 3 is provided. The mechanical seal cooling circulating system 6 has a coolant feed pump 4. The coolant feed pump 4 is driven by a power recovering water turbine 5 to feed the coolant to the mechanical seal installation part 3. A mechanical seal cooler 7 is provided to cool the coolant circulated in the circulating system 6. As the coolant in the loop of the coolant circulating system is forcedly circulated by the coolant feed pump 4, a necessary quantity of the coolant is regularly fed to the mechanical seal. Hence, a highly reliable cooling device suitable to cooling of mechanical seal can be provided.
