Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To avoid a trouble that the reading of a data part cannot be executed when the ID part of a hard disk is destroyed by sensing the disconnection of a power source and backing up the information of the ID part of the hard disk to a CMOS memory. CONSTITUTION:When an operator turns a power switch 17 of a hard disk device to a disconnecting side, a power source disconnection sensing mechanism 18 senses it, and information that the power source is disconnected is sent to a power source holding mechanism 19. When the information is received, the power source is held by the mechanism 19, while the information of the ID part of the hard disk is transferred to a CMOS backup memory 12 by a hard disk control circuit 15 and a backup memory control circuit 13 and, thereafter, the disconnection is executed. In such a way, each time the power source of the hard disk device is disconnected while the operator is not especially conscious, the latest information of the ID part of the hard disk is backed up to the CMOS memory. Consequently, when the ID part of the hard disk is destroyed, the information of the ID part backed up to the CMOS memory is read and accessed.
