Abstract

Abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize liquid absorption and solidification to a high level even for a waste liquid containing inorg. and org. salts or water-soluble org. solvents by incorporating a single polymer or a copolymer crosslinked compd. of a specified N-vinyl carboxylic acid amide into a treating agent for waste liquid. SOLUTION: This treating agent for waste liquid contains a single polymer or copolymer crosslinked compd. as an effective component containing a unit derived from N-vinyl carboxylic acid amide expressed by the formula as the main structural unit. In the formula, R<1> and R<2> are independently hydrogen or methyl groups. The N-vinyl carboxylic acid amide single polymer or copolymer crosslinked compd. to be used is preferably N-vinylformamide, N-methyl-N- vinylformamide, N-methyl-N-vinylacetoamide. Especially, N-vinylacetoamide is preferable. As for the monomers which can copolymerize with the N- vinylcarboxylic acid amide, monomers of acrylic acid (salt), acrylamide-2- methylsulfonic acid (salt), vinyl sulfonic acid (salt) can be used.
