Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE: To reduce noise, particularly, high frequency sound generated from the opening of a printer by a method wherein the opening of an enclosure encircling a printing part is made narrow and a damper for damping the sound energy which leaks out of the enclosure is provided at and around the opening part. CONSTITUTION: The position of a paper cutter 5 of an impact printer is moved so that the width of the opening 7' of an enclosure may become narrow and the end part A of a paper cutter 5 may come in contact with paper 6. Since the width of the enclosure opening 7' is narrow, vibrating energy of the air is difficult to come out and damping increases. When paper 6 is in contact with the paper cutter 5 in an impact printing, resistance through the contact friction is given and the vibrating energy is damped. Therefore, the noise composed of a high frequency component generated by the paper decreases remarkably. COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio
