Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE: To make it possible to measure the distance up to the level of a liquid accommodated in a vessel by detecting electrical conductivity between a pair of electrodes provided at the leading ends of a tape measure. CONSTITUTION: A weight having electrodes 17 and 18 is mounted at the leading ends of a tape measure 7 formed by coating a steel belt 9 and a parallel electrode 10 with an insulating resin 11, and a reel 3 rotated by a handle and winding up the tape measure 7 is accommodated in a reel accommodating chamber 2. Electrodes 17 and 18 communicate with the steel belt 9 of the tape measure 7 and its parallel electrode 10, respectively, and furthermore, is connected to a power source 35 through a lead wire 32 and an electrical circuit 34. When a tape measure case 1 is set on the same level as the lower ends of the electrodes 17 and 18 to adjust the "0" point of the tape measure, and the handle is rotated to lower the tape measure 7, the electrodes 17 and 18 become conductive on the liquid level, and it is detected by means of an electrical circuit 34. Upon this occasion, the graduation of the tape measure 7 is read out, whereby the distance up to the liquid level can be measured. COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio
