Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To exactly control the running of a carriage as well as to simplify the structure of a printer by providing a pinion gear turning by a motor provided to the carriage of the printer and providing a rack gear engaging with the pinion gear to a guide shaft. CONSTITUTION: A carriage 25 is provided with a printing head 26 and a motor 27. When the motor 27 turns, a pinion gear 30 engaging with the rack gear 23a of a guide shaft 23 is turned, thereby the carriage 25 can be moved in the right or left direction. Sensors 28 and 29 consisting of a magnetic induction element, fixed to the carriage 25 and facing the rack gear 23a, sends forth an output signal corresponding to the thread pitch of the rack gear 23a. By this, the carriage 25 can be exactly detected its position and also exact print-timing signal can be outputted. COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio
