Porous film

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: A porous film of adjustable porosity and pore size having a variety of functions, which is obtd. by dispersing a polymer immiscible with a film- formable polymer in the polymer and stretching the resulting dispersion at least in one direction into a film. CONSTITUTION: In at least 50wt% film-forming polymer such as an acrylic or modacrylic polymer (A), 50wt% or less polymer (B) such as cellulose acetate or a vinyl acetate polymer immiscible with the component A is uniformly dispersed by use of an adequate solvent. Then pores are formed at the interface between the components A and B by subjecting the resulting dispersion to uni- or biaxial stretching with a draw ratio of 1.95W5 to prepare the purpose porous film. It is possible to adjust its porosity, pore size, etc. by adjusting an amt. of the component B added and to give a variety of functions by selecting the components A and B.
