Bold printing method of dot printer equipment

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain clear bold-faced characters by causing a print head to print the same character two times with the print head kept deviated horizontally by an amount corresponding to a half of the pitch of a print dot at the time of the second printing. CONSTITUTION:A controller 2 selects a character pattern according to received character codes and converts it into a character pattern of 5X8 dots and stores it in sequence in a line dot buffer 4. At this time, to distinguish characters to be emphasized from ordinary characters, a bold-faced character pointer register 5 wherein 1 bit is allocated for 1 digit corresponding to each digit of the line dot buffer 4 is provided and 1 is allocated to such a bit corresponding to a digit which is to be emphasized. Upon completion of printing of one line, a print head 9 returns to the left end, clears data in the line dot buffer 4 excluding those digits for which ''1'' is givek by the bold-faced character register and the print head prints those characters with a half dot delayed again.
