Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To improve the sharpness of the image of an image display device by providing reflection preventive layers consisting of two or three layers of which the respective layers satisfy specific conditions on the surface of a display image screen or the front surface plate thereof. CONSTITUTION:A display device has the reflection preventive films which are the reflection preventive films consisting of two or three layers and obtd. by coating the respective layers in liquid form and drying or curing the same, and of which the respective layers satisfy the conditions to be described later on a display image plane or the front surface thereof. The two-layered reflection preventive films are the reflection preventive films wherein the 1st layer of the reflection preventive films has the refractive index higher than the refractive indices of the base material in contact with said 1st layer and the 2nd layer provided on the 1st layer and the film thicknesses of the 1st layer and the 2nd layer satisfy the conditions of the equation I . The three-layered reflection preventive films are the reflection preventive films wherein the refractive index of the 1st layer of the reflection preventive film is higher than the refractive index of the transparent base material layer in contact therewith and lower than the refractive index of the 2nd layer provided on the 1st layer, and further the 3rd layer has the refractive index lower than the refractive indices of the 1st layer and the 2nd layer and the film thicknesses of the 1st layer, the 2nd layer and the 3rd layer satisfy respectively the conditions of the equation II.
