Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To attain reading a frame and ruled line in addition to a bar code and character by binary coding the output of a photoelectric transducer through two binary coding circuits different in threshold value, then applying arithmetic to both outputs. CONSTITUTION:A reading subject 2 is detected by an image sensor 3 and amplified up to a desired level by an amplifying circuit 4 to be sent to binary coding circuits 7 and 8 after inversion performed through inverting circuits 5 and 6. These circuits 7 and 8 are different in threshold value, and the value of the circuit 7 is smaller than that of the circuit 8. The output of both circuits 7 and 8 supplied to a logical difference circuit (exclusive OR circuit) 9. Then a signal which is set at a high level only when the output of the circuit 4 is set at a level between the threshold values of both circuits 7 and 8 can be obtained as an output W. This output W shows a frame or a ruled line. While a character or a bar code is shown when the other output Y is set at a low level.
