Photomagnetic recording medium
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To attain high sensitivity and high S/N by providing a recording layer with a magnetic thin film having a low Curie temperature or magnetic compensating temperature and a large coercive force and a vertical axis easy for magnetization and a transparent magnetic material having a large Farady rotation angle and an axis which is easy to magnetize and vertical to the film face to a transparent base. CONSTITUTION:The photomagnetic recording medium consists of a transparent base 1 such as glass, a vertical magnetic material film layer 5 close to transparency such as ferrite having a large Farady rotation angle and a magnetization- easy axis vertical to the film face, a vertical magnetization film 3 made of a rare earth transition metal alloy, having a low Curie temperature or magnetic compensating temperature as 50-250 deg.C and a large coercive force as >=1kOe, and a protection film layer 4 such as Si or SiO2 acting for prevention of oxidation of the magnetic film 3. The recording/reproduction is attained by using laser light from the base 1. Thus, the photomagnetic recording medium having high recording sensitivity and high reproduction S/N is attained in this way.
