Automatic adjusting mechanism for printing head in wire dot printer
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To ensure that a printing head is automatically adjusted on a change in paper thickness without mis-operation and the best printing quality is constantly obtained, by providing a motor for moving a carriage assembly forward and backward in a direction perpendicular to a platen, a detecting element for detecting an initial position of the assembly, and a controlling part for detecting the thickness of a printing paper. CONSTITUTION:When the printing paper 5 is pressed against the platen 2, a predetermined number of input pulses are impressed on a stepping motor 19. The motor 19 is driven with low torque, and when a ribbon protector 4 comes into contact with the paper 5 to block the rotation of the motor 19, the motor 19 steps out, and the gap between the protector 4 and the paper 5 is maintained to be zero. When inputting of the pulses is completed, predetermined input pulses for reverse rotation are impressed on the motor 19, whereby the carriage assembly 1 is separated from the platen 2, and the gap between the printing head 3 and the paper 5 is set to a predetermined amount.
