Valve operation pause device for internal-combustion engine

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To facilitate changing-over from/into the valve operation pause condition by furnishing an extra locker arm between those two locker arms which are usually installed to open and close a pair of suction valves provided for each cylinder, and by coupling these locker arms with each other by a coupling means with possibility of disengagement retained. CONSTITUTION:In an arrangement where locker arms 7-9 interlocked with a low-speed cam 3 and a high-speed cam 5 on the cam shaft 2 perform the opening and closing operation for a pair of suction valves V1, V2 provided for each cylinder, the locker arms 7, 9 are arranged mating with said suction valves V1, V2, and the one 7 is interlocked with the above-mentioned low-speed cam 3. The locker arm 8 is, on the other hand, interlocked with the high-speed cam 5. These locker arms 7-9 are coupled between ones 7, 8 and between ones 8, 9 with possibility of decoupling by the use of a coupling means 21 including No.1 piston 22 and No.2 piston 23. A coupling start control mechanism 53 and a decoupling start control mechanism 54 are installed to control the moving timing of the piston 22.
