Brake system for internal combustion engine-driven electric motor vehicle
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To regulate brake force with a simple structure by varying the voltage of a DC intermediate circuit connected with a brake resistor. CONSTITUTION:The output of a synchronous generator 2 driven by an internal- combustion engine 1 is supplied through a diode rectifier 3, a filter and GTO inverters 8L, 8R to wheel driving motors 9L, 9R. When a vehicle is decelerated, a switch element 11 is closed to consume brake energy returned from the motors 9L, 9R through the inverters 8L, 8R to a DC intermediate circuit by a brake resistor 6. At this time, a brake controller 10 applies a control command to the inverters 8L, 8R to vary the voltage of the intermediate circuit connected with the resistor 6, thereby obtaining the prescribed brake force.
