Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To prevent a developer from contaminating bearing parts of developer carrier and a rotary brush and to develop images of high picture quality by uniformalizing the thickness of a developer layer on the developer carrier by forming fur at least at both end outer peripheries of the rotary brush spirally in the direction where the developer moves from both end parts of the rotary brush to the center part. CONSTITUTION:A voltage is applied between a developing roller 22 and the fur brush 26 from the 2nd high-voltage power source 29 so that the fur brush 26 is held plus, and the surface of the developing roller 22 is coated with toner to more than specific toner layer thickness. The developing roller 22 rotates and the toner 19 which is charged electrostatically on the surface of the developing roller 22 is scraped off partially when passing by a blade 30, so that the toner is controlled to the specific toner layer thickness. At this time, the toner 19 which contacts the blade 30 moves from both end parts of the fur brush 26 to the center part through the rotation of the fur brush 26 while moving from the center part of the developing roller 22 to both end parts. Consequently, the toner 19 is prevented from contaminating bearings 34 and 35 of the developing roller 22 and fur brush 26.
