Ribbon feed controlling circuit

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To enable effective use of a ribbon, by feeding the ribbon in a printing period, and stopping the feeding of the ribbon during non-printing periods. CONSTITUTION:When a printing head 4 is moved in the direction of an arrow, printing data DT are inputted to a printing period detecting part 1 at the position of characters 5 to be printed such as ABC, and a signal VP at a level indicative of a printing period is outputted. During a period SP, the printing head 4 is moved without printing, and the signal VP is maintained at a level indicative of a non-printing period. According to the signal VP, a ribbon-driving part 2 feeds a ribbon in the printing period, and stops the feeding of the ribbon during the non-printing periods.
