DC electric field measuring device
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To prevent electrooptic crystal from being polarized and to measure a DC electric field by providing an electric field shield body intermitting an electric field to be measured which is applied to an electrooptic effect element and a driving source which drives the electric field shield body. CONSTITUTION:An electrode plate 8 is a rotary body with two blades and constituted rotatably around a shaft 9. Both electrode plates 7 and 8 are connected electrically to each other. Consequently, when the rotary blade 8A or 8B faces the electrode plate 7 held at the same potential across the electrooptic effect element 1 as the electrode plate 8 rotates, the electric field between them is zero. Namely, the electric field E to be measured which is applied to the electrooptic effect element 2 is cut off completely. The driving source which rotates the electrode plate 8 uses an air motor 10 and dry gaseous nitrogen is admitted through a conduit 11 and blown to the electrode plate, which is rotated. When quartz is used as the electrooptic crystal for the electrooptic effect element 1, the specific dielectric constant is small, polarization is hard to occur, and the response is improved.
