Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To provide the titled sintered body of increased high-temperature strength without requiring addition of much aid, sufficiently densified by normal temperature sintering using no hot press, derived from SiC single crystal particles and, as the matrix, acicular beta-Si3N4. CONSTITUTION:The objective composite sintered body consisting mainly of (A) silicon carbide single crystal powder with a size of 2-30mum and (B) silicon nitride of acicular beta-Si3N4. The weight ratio: A/b=pref. 15-35/65-85. This sintered body may contain 10-18wt.% of aid such as oxide(s) (e.g., Y2O3, Al2O3).
