Abstract
Abstract METHOD OF MAKING FOAMED GLASS INSULATION BY FORMING A MIXTURE OF A FINELY DIVIDED VAPORIZABLE METAL WITH AT LEAST TWO GLASSES. THE FIRST GLASS BECOMES FLUID AT OR NEAR THE BOILING POINT OT THE METAL AND THE SECOND GLASS IS MISCIBLE WITH THE FIRST GLASS TO RAISE ITS VISCOSITY. THE ENTIRE MIXTURE IS HEATED TO VAPORIZE THE METAL AND FORM CELLS WITHIN THE MOLTEN GLASS, AFTER WHICH THE VISCOSITY OF THE GLASS IS INCREASED AND THE GLASS IS COOLED TO SOLIDIFICATION.
