Abstract A PROCESS FOR PREPARING ANILINE BY THE DIRECT AMINATION OF PHENOL WITH AMMONIA IN THE VAPOR PHASE IN THE PRESENCE OF A SOLID, HETEROGENEOUS CATALYST. IT HAS BEEN DISCOVERED THAT SIGNIFICANT PROCESS IMPROVEMENTS ARE OBTAINED IF THE PHENOL FEED TO THE REACTION IS VAPORIZED IN THE ABSENCE OF SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNTS OF AMMONIA.
