Abstract

Abstract Apparatus for making netlike structures wherein groups of strands of paired groups of strands are periodically shifted to provide different pairs of such groups. Means are also included in such apparatus for rotating each paired group of strands about an axis between the groups of each such pair, with the strands in each such group nearest to such axis being rotated only 180* while the remaining strands on each such group are turned through an angle of at least 360*.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 5
Claim 1
Independent Claim 219 words
Apparatus for making netlike structures including a plurality of nozzles each being of semicircular configuration and including a semicylindrical section and a mating semicircular section, said nozzles arranged in spaced relationship along each of the opposite sides of a common plane with their flat sides disposed along the common plane and with the nozzles along one side of the common plane being paired with like nozzles along the opposite side of the common plane, each of the nozzle sections having at least one extrusion orifice, means for delivering flowable strand-forming material to the nozzle orifices for extrusion therefrom as continuous streams, means for setting into strands the streams of flowable strand-forming material extruded from the nozzle orifices, means for relatively shifting the nozzles in directions parallel to the common plane to rearrange at least some of the nozzles along one side of the common plane into pairs with like nozzles along the other side of the common plane, and means operative alternately with said shifting means for revolving the respective pairs of nozzles concomitantly about an axis extending centrally between such nozzles with the semicircular sections of the respective pairs of nozzles being revolved through an angle of only 180* and the semicylindrical sections of the respective pairs of nozzles being revolved through an angle of at least 360*.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 219 words

Claim 3
Dependent Claim 34 words
Apparatus as defined in claim 1 wherein said nozzle-revolving means moves the semicylindrical sections of the respective pairs of nozzles through an angle of only 360* alternately with the operation of said shifting means.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 43 words
Apparatus as defined in claim 2 wherein at least the means for moving the semicircular sections of the respective pairs of nozzles is operative to move said semicircular sections alternately in clockwise and counterclockwise directions alternately with the operation of said shifting means.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 53 words
Apparatus as defined in claim 1 wherein said shifting means includes means for reciprocating the nozzles along one side of the common plane in 180* out-of-phase relationship with the nozzles along the opposite side of such common plane and wherein said revolving means is operative alternately with each stroke of said reciprocating means.
