Abstract A TREATMENT FOR ABS POLYMERS TO IMPROVE THE ADHESION OF COATINGS THERETO. IMPROVED WETTABILITY OF THE SURFACE RESULTS FROM THE OXIDATION OF A PORTION OF THE AVAILABLE DOUBLE BONDS ON THE SURFACE OF THE POLYMER. THE POLYMER IS TREATED IN A SOLUTION CONTAINING FROM 50 TO 80 PERCENT BY VOLUME OF U.S.P. GRADE ORTHOPHOSPHORIC ACID (05.3% H3PO4) AND FROM 5 GRAMS PER LITER TO SATURATION OF POTASSIUM PERMANGANATE.
