Abstract
Abstract The specification discloses fabrics that are composed of metal oxides such as zirconia, tantala, and other metal oxides which have not heretofore been available in the form of fabrics. The metal oxide fabrics of this invention are characterized by being relatively flexible and strong, as well as exhibiting the desirable high temperature and chemical resistance properties that are typical of materials such as zirconia and tantala. The metal oxide fabrics of the invention are useful as battery separators, fuel cell separators, in high temperature insulation, and the like.
