Abstract
Abstract An inner cylindrical shell; an outer cylindrical shell enclosing, and spaced from, the inner shell to provide a jacket adapted to hold a high boiling point liquid; a source of heat in said inner shell for heating the liquid, and agitating means operable when the roll is rotated to bring said liquid into uniform contact with the inner surface of said outer shell.

Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 4
Claim 1
Independent Claim
132 words
A heat transfer roll, including an inner shell, means for heating said inner shell, an outer shell enclosing said inner shell to form a jacket for containing a liquid for transmitting heat from the inner to the outer shell, at least one first curved vane within, and extending longitudinally of said jacket, at least one second oppositely curved vane within, and extending longitudinally of, said jacket, said first and said second vane being co-extensive and each of them being shorter than said jacket, said vanes being axially staggered so that the ends of said first vane well be out of alignment with the corresponding end of said second vane, whereby the juxtaposed end portions of said vanes form gates for the passage of liquid propelled by said end portion of said vanes.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
20 words
The roll defined in claim 1 wherein said vanes are angularly displaced and are oppositely curved about their respective axes.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
44 words
The roll defined in claim 1 wherein the height of each vane is less than the height of the jacket to provide a passage for radial movement of liquid between the outer edge of the vane and the inner surface of said outer shell.
