Abstract 1,4-DIACYLOXY-2-BUTENE IS PRODUCED BY PASSING A GASEOUS MIXTURE OF BUTADIENE, AN ALIPHATIC MONOCARBOXYLIC ACID AND AN OXYGENCONTAINING GAS OVER A CATALYST COMPRISING AT LEAST ONE OF PALLADIUM, IRIDIUM, PLATINUM, RHODIUM AND RUTHENIUM AND CARBOXYLATE AND INORGANIC ACID SALT THEREOF.
