Abstract

Abstract A phonograph pickup includes a case having a top section and a bottom section. A single piece elastomer member includes a stylus beam coupler, a damping block, and two interconnecting support elements mounted in the case. A transducing element is positioned on each of the support elements, with the ends of the transducing elements inserted into apertures in the beam coupler and damping block. Electrical terminals are positioned on opposing surfaces of the transducing elements. When the top and bottom case sections are secured together, female receptacles are formed. Each female receptacle includes one of the electrical terminals positioned on the transducing elements. A guard member having a channel in its underside is secured to the housing. The guard member is positioned such that a predetermined force applied to the pickup stylus deflects the stylus carrying beam into the guard member channel.

Independent Claim 185 words
In a phonograph pickup of the type including a transducing element for converting mechanical motion to electrical signals, a structure comprising; an elastomer means for supporting said transducing element; a first and a second electrical terminal positioned on opposing surfaces of said transducing element, said first and said second terminals each having a flat portion in contact with said transducing element and a bent portion; a pickup case including a top section having a spacer element and wall portions and a bottom section having a spacer element and wall portions; means for securing said pickup case top section and bottom section in complementary relationship to enclose a portion of said elastomer means; said top section spacer element and said bottom section spacer element protruding between the bent portion of said first and said second terminals and cooperating to maintain said first and said second terminals in a predetermined position with respect to said phonograph pickup; and said top section wall portions and said bottom section wall portions forming two female receptacles, each including the bent portion of one of said first and said second terminals.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 185 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 24 words
A structure as defined in claim 1 wherein said first and said second terminals each includes a spring element protruding into the female receptacle.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 38 words
A structure as defined in claim 2 wherein each female receptacle has a substantially triangular cross section, two sides of said triangular cross section formed of said pickup case, the third side formed of one of said terminals.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 24 words
A structure as defined in claim 1 wherein each spacer has a sloped surface which engages one of said first and said second terminals.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 297 words
In a phonograph pickup of the type including a first and a second transducing element for converting the mechanical motion of a stylus to two electrical signals, a structure comprising: an elastomer means for supporting said first and said second transducing elements; a first and a second electrical terminal positioned on opposing surfaces of said first transducing element, said first and said second terminals each having a flat portion in contact with said first transducing element and a bent portion; a third and a fourth electrical terminal positioned on opposing surfaces of said second transducing element, said third and said fourth terminals each having a flat portion in contact with said second transducing element and a bent portion; a pickup case including a top section having wall portions and a first and a second spacer element, and a bottom section having wall portions and a first and a second spacer element; means for securing said pickup case top section and bottom section in complementary relationship to enclose a portion of said elastomer means; said top section first spacer element and said bottom section first spacer element protruding between the bent portion of said first and said second terminals and cooperating to maintain said first and said second terminals in a predetermined position with respect to said phonograph pickup; said top section second spacer element and said bottom section second spacer element protruding between the bent portion of said third and said fourth terminals and cooperating to maintain said third and said fourth terminals in a predetermined position with respect to said phonograph pickup; and said top section wall portions and said bottom section wall portions forming four female receptacles, each including the bent portion of one of said first, said second, said third, and said fourth terminals.
