Abstract A detergent composition including an anionic or non-ionic surfactant and a novel, hydrophilic but water-insoluble building agent comprising natural cellulose fibers having chemically bonded therein and thereon by in situ polymerization, an alkali salt of polyacrylic acid or polymethacrylic acid.
