Abstract

Abstract A spray nozzle having an internal bore for spray liquid and a transverse deflector plate disposed in the path of the liquid jet from the nozzle. The deflector plate is mounted on a rod extending axially through the bore of the nozzle and rigidly mounted by a spider having radial legs and a peripheral ring from which the legs extend both radially and axially. The outer edges of the legs closely fit the inner bore of the nozzle for centering the rod and the clamping of the ring secures the rod in place.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 5
Claim 1
Independent Claim 94 words
In a spray nozzle having an axial bore for ejecting a jet of liquid, a transverse deflector plate disposed in the path of said jet and a supporting rod for said plate extending axially through said bore, a supporting spider for said rod having a set of radial legs and a peripheral ring carrying said legs, said nozzle having an end rim against which said ring is adapted to be seated and said legs having outer end portions shaped to fit accurately in said bore of said nozzle for centering the spider and rod.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 94 words
In a spray nozzle having an axial bore for ejecting a jet of liquid, a transverse deflector plate disposed in the path of said jet and a supporting rod for said plate extending axially through said bore, a supporting spider for said rod having a set of radial legs and a peripheral ring carrying said legs, said nozzle having an end rim against which said ring is adapted to be seated and said legs having outer end portions shaped to fit accurately in said bore of said nozzle for centering the spider and rod.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 25 words
A nozzle as set forth in claim 1 in which said bore is tapered and the outer end portions of said legs are correspondingly tapered.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 37 words
A nozzle as set forth in claim 1 in which said legs have a greater axial width than said ring whereby said legs extend beyond said ring inwardly and axially to provide said outer surface for centering.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 24 words
A nozzle as set forth in claim 1 including a coupling member having means to clamp said ring against said rim of said nozzle.
