Abstract

Abstract Compartmented tube containing pre- prepared culture media for the differential identification of microorganisms, particularly, organisms of the family Enterobacteriaceae. The improvement comprises inserting a rigid member into the device after innoculation is effected, said rigid member being preferentially provided by severing a scored innoculation wire rod which extends through the tube. It further comprises the use of a material to overlay the media which biochemically reacts under anaerobic conditions.
