Abstract
Abstract Apparatus for testing the swaging of one or more ferrules on the periphery of a cylindrical member such as a tube. The apparatus shown in the drawings includes means for applying a predetermined longitudinally directed force against an end of the tube while the ferrules are held to determine whether or not the tube will move relative to the ferrules.

Apparatus for testing the swaging to the outer surface of a cylindrical member of ferrules of fittings of the type including a coupling nut having a threaded internal opening and adapted to encircle the cylindrical member and an associated ferrule positioned on the cylindrical member, said apparatus comprising: a body having a bore; a piston within said bore; external thread means on said body circumferentially of said bore adapted to threadedly engage the threaded internal opening of a coupling nut carried on a tube or rod; means within said bore for aligning the tube or rod with said bore and limiting the movement of a ferrule swaged on the periphery of the tube or rod; power means driving for said piston toward the end of the tube or rod; and, indicator means for providing an indication of the driving force applied to said piston.
