Abstract
Abstract A method and apparatus for blow molding hollow plastic containers which include a split mold having two mold halves. A blow pin support assembly is attached to one of the mold halves and extends therebelow. The blow pin assembly is mounted on the support means and is adjustable thereon to provide centering of the blow pin with the neck opening provided in one end of the blow mold. The support structure includes means for vertically and horizontally positioning the blow pin assembly to provide exact centering of the blow pin assembly with the neck opening in the mold.

Independent Claim
248 words
In a blow molding apparatus for producing hollow containers from a thermoplastic parison, the combination comprising: a. a split, hollow blow mold including two movable mold halves which provide a cavity to receive said parison and have an axial neck opening in their bottom surfaces; b. means to open and close both said mold halves including a platen for each mold half; c. a support structure attached to only one of said mold halves and extending downwardly therefrom, and being free of engagement with the other of said mold halves when said mold halves are in the closed position including i. a first generally U-shaped bracket having its upper end attached to one of said platens and its lower end extending below said mold half carried by said one platen, said lower end including a pair of opposed side plates which are provided with vertically extending slots therein, ii. a second generally U-shaped bracket having a pair of opposed side plates engaging said side plates of said first Ushaped bracket and movably coupled thereto by bolts received in said slots in said first U-shaped bracket; d. a blow pin assembly mounted on said support structure for vertical adjustment and having its outer end in axial alignment with said neck opening; and e. power means supported by said second U-shaped bracket and coupled to the lower end of said blow pin and adapted to move said outer end of said blow pin into and out of said neck opening.
