Abstract

Abstract An elastomeric cold patch for pavement repair and the method of preparation thereof comprising preparing an elastomeric pavement repair composition from paving grade asphalt and rubber. The asphalt is heated to an elevated temperature and the rubber is combined therewith. The resulting hot composition is mixed to form a hot jelly composition which is formed into a layer. The top surface of the hot layer of the elastomeric composition is dressed with aggregate. Optionally, aggregate can be added into the hot elastomeric composition prior to the formation of the layer. Upon cooling of the layer of hot elastomeric material, an elastomeric cold patch is obtained. Pavements are repaired by cleaning the area of the pavement which is to be repaired, tacking the surface of the pavement and applying the hot elastomeric cold path thereto.
